Mystery Brinkman // Pleasurehorse
LOAD 031  12"

Mystery Brinkman

The first in Load's truly groundbreaking/annoying attempts to blow your mind and fill your diaper with exciting "out there" sounds. Mystery Brinkman

Mystery Brinkman is first up. You may know Mr. (E) Brinkman from his first band, Forcefield, a Providence based Residents-styled costumed oscillator unit recently seen in the Whitney Bienniel. Yes, they wear costumes, yes, they play old military radio-corps equipment, and yes they have been around for 7 years. Load released a split 7" with them and Lightning Bolt in 1995. Long active on the Fort Thunder scene.

Mystery Brinkman lays down some Robotussin laced narco beats. Strange voices, handicapped hip hop, and ATTITUDE my friend. And this is just one half of this dynamite 12" sizzle platter. Contemporary comparisons are difficult, but trainspotters can namecheck such brandnames as Panacea, EC8OR, or Amps for Christ. Definitely not for inexperienced dance floors.

Pleasurehorse

Sean Greenlee is a busy guy…member of Landed, Six Finger Satellite, and Pleasurehorse. Pleaurehorse has two 12 inch platters (DROPDEAD Deconstructed 12" Load 024 and the Purly Gates 12" on History of the Future). Also out is a CD EP on Vermiform.

Yeah it's a noisy electronic record. Definitely a more precise feel than Mystery Brinkman. Lots of dynamics…soft pops, loud swoops, crunching thwump! This shit is some of the most exciting stuff in electronic music today. We here in Providence are used to the fact that we must quietly lead the revolution in sound while the world around us churns out crap. Pleasurehorse is here, toss out your Basement Jaxx, Air, and Boards of Canada records. Thank you, and go back to watching "Friends".
